Operation Graduation 2011 Essay: Jeremy Klein (Mundelein, Ill.)

Date: August 2, 2011

My name is Jeremy Klein and I am 17 years old. I live in Buffalo Grove, Illinois and my district school is Adali E. Stevenson.

I chose to attend Ombudsman because I had trouble attending school at an early time, and my poor attendance was affecting my grades.

It got to the point where when I was attending school, I disliked going to classes because I did not know what we were doing so I started to ditch classes. This only furthered my chances of falling behind and I started to struggle even more.

Then came the option of Ombudsman. I had heard of Ombudsman from a few friends that had attended there. Then the option started to become a reality when my counselor suggested it.

At first I was not sure I wanted to leave and not see all my friends at school. Ultimately I decided this was my chance to change my education for the better and stride towards graduation finally.

I finally chose Ombudsman because my poor attendance and grades were just holding me back at Stevenson.

When I started Ombudsman I realized the opportunity I was given.

I started attending school more often, and doing all my work. I was finally effectively earning my credits, and school became more enjoyable so I did not mind attending anymore.

Ombudsman really helped in this all because of their flexible hours so I could get enough sleep to wake up and be ready for my days.

Coming to Ombudsman has allowed me to earn my credits so I could graduate on time.

This really helped for my plans after high school because now I can graduate and start college next year. My plan is to go to the College of Lake County for two years to raise my GPA and take my base classes.

After that I want to transfer to a college to get my degree.  After college I hope to get a good job so I can live a successful life with a wife and kids eventually.

Ombudsman has definitely changed my life in a positive way. It helped me better my education by getting me on track with my credits and my attendance. My overall attendance is 97%.

What I have learned at Ombudsman will stay with me the rest of my life and continue to help me stay on track for the rest of my educational career, also helping me transition into a job career after.

Ombudsman has taught me you have to earn what you want; it is an important part of life and will help me further my education and my life in a positive direction.
