Operation Graduation 2011 Essay: Dustin Harville (Athens, Ala.)

Date: June 15, 2011

I came to Ombudsman for a second chance and a better learning environment. This school has propelled me to finish high school and possibly further my education. I knew it would be easier for me to go four hours rather than go an entire school day. After meeting the teachers here it was a sure thing that I was to attend this awesome school. I realize also that ombudsman was a better chance to experience a certain level of independence.

I plan on going to Calhoun for spring classes. Welding has always been a passion for me and a goal for a degree. I hope to move out soon and start living on my own. Now that I have graduated I hope to get a nice motor cycle. Camping trips, vacations, and many good times are in my future.

The best thing about this school is how it’s run. I love being able to finish my work on a computer. No one likes homework and that’s something that this school gets. With the help of the teachers I steadily got my work done. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet that this facility offers.

I’m graduating! My parents are proud of me. My job offers me more hours. Many people from work, school, family and friends have told me what a great job I have done and how they couldn’t be happier. It felt good finally getting my cap and gown and being able to wear it with pride. Add the diploma and it is going to be an amazing day.

I like the teachers here. I love being able to get out at the early time of eleven and not have to wait an entire school day. The atmosphere is safe, friendly and just an all around perfect learning environment. This school also gave me the opportunity to meet people and now friends from other schools. The best part has to be the rewards that the teachers are kind enough to give me for doing a good job.
