The American Dream

America is known as the “land of the free and the home of brave-” a country where life is not determined by government, but by the works of the people. It is a country  that allows citizens the freedom to pursue dreams. Therefore, dreams come alive if one wants it. In order to achieve “The American Dream,” one must have determination to work hard plus believe anything is possible. With that said, not only do American citizens go after their dreams, but people from other countries seek citizenship in America for a chance at achieving “The American Dream.”

As a child, I dreamed of being many things; however, since the age of thirteen, I have been dreaming of nothing more than joining the military and being thrilled to wear a Navy uniform. However, in order to join the military, it is a must that you be 18 years old with a high school diploma. June 2013 will be the start of my American Dream– joining the Navy as I will have earned my high school diploma. By the age of 30, I will have fulfilled my first dream of serving in the Navy. After retiring from the Navy,  I plan to start on my second dream of opening my own mechanic shop.

The American culture gives everybody the freedom of choice and as educated youth we are expected to make decisions to the best of our abilities. I have always been told by my parents and teachers that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. My dreams are consistent with American culture and. I am working hard to earn my high school diploma so I can follow my dreams and live the life I have always wanted.
