Student Profile: Morgan Adams (Downers Grove, Ill.)
Morgan is a senior from District 87.
OES: Morgan, how would you describe your OES experience so far?
MA: It’s new, but I was able to adapt and work effectively and at my own pace. I’m liking it.
OES: Is it different from what you expected?
MA: That’s hard to answer because I really didn’t know what to expect.
OES: Compare the work you are doing with us to what you were doing at your home school.
MA: The courses are very similar and the difficulty is similar too. The learning seems the same.
OES: Do you have a favorite class?
MA: Astronomy. It’s interesting thinking about the possibilities and strangeness of space.
OES: What’s been the most challenging class?
MA: English.
OES: How do you feel about working independently?
MA: I like it because I can focus on what needs to be done and get it done.
OES: You have a compressed class day. What do you do with your extra time?
MA: I was able to find a job at a Mexican restaurant.
OES: What are your plans for the future?
MA: I plan to go to COD for two years and then transfer to Northwestern. I want to be a psychiatrist.
OES: What would you tell someone who was about to start the program about OES?
MA: I’d tell them it’s an excellent place to be. You have a shortened school day, you can work at your own pace and there are teachers who are always willing to help.
