Ombudsman Centers Participate in American Cancer Society Relay for Life (Georgia)

Date: July 21, 2011

This year, the North GA-1 region decided to make a difference by teaming up to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. In early March, three teams were formed in each of the three school districts: Cobb, Bibb and Douglas County.  Staff, students and parents all joined the team and helped to raise money through donations and fundraisers for Relay For Life.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, the North GA-1 Ombudsman teams camped out and took turns walking around a track.

This was a collaborative effort, throughout this region, to raise money and awareness in hope to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. There was a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps.
