Oakwood Digital Academy Hosts Mock-Interview Luncheon (Oakwood, Ga.)
Oakwood Digital Academy hosted its first annual Mock-Interview Luncheon on March 13, 2012 in the Career Center. Representatives from four local businesses were on campus to conduct mock-interviews with students. Those in attendance were: Michael Robinson, President of The Family Vending & Coffee Company of GA; Ronald Crawford, Assistant Principal at Fair Oaks Elementary; Perry Rhue, Senior Talent Manager for IBM; and Teresa Westbrook, FBI Community Relations Coordinator.
Ms. Westbrook also served as the keynote speaker for the luncheon. All students had participated in resume writing training classes, as well as classes on how to present themselves in an interview. Forty-five resumes were submitted and eleven students were chosen to participate based on the excellent resumes they turned in to Mr. Williams, the Post-Secondary Transition Coach.
During the mock interview, Oakwood students were interviewed for professional positions ranging from Assistant Manager to Recruitment. After the interviews, the representatives offered constructive feedback to help the students improve their interview and communication skills for real life career and job seeking endeavors. The luncheon and keynote address was a fun, valuable and rewarding way to end the experience for our students. We would like to thank all of the businesses that contributed to the growth and development of our students.
