La Fayette Center News – November (La Fayette, Ga.)
Congratulations to Ezekiel Snider ( left) for being selected as start student for the month of October. Ezekiel has gone above and beyond in the area of service this month. He stayed after class three days cutting, sorting, and counting over $1900 worth of coupons that were donated for “Coupons for Troops.” Additionally, Ezekiel makes an effort before he leaves each day to ask if there is anything we need help with. Thank you, Ezekiel for all your help!
Congratulations also to Brittany Casey (right) for being selected as star student for the month of October. Brittany is a very positive student. She is here every day, she has a great attitude, and she is making great academic progress. She is a very hard worker. Thank you Brittany for all your hard work and for your smile!

Service Learning Opportunities
Coupons to Troops (ongoing)
We are collecting expired (and unused current) coupons to send to our troops overseas. The PXs and Commissaries overseas accept expired manufacturer coupons for a few months, and we will be mailing ours to our adopted base in Spain monthly.
So if you get the Sunday paper or otherwise have unused or expired coupons, bring them in! Students get credit for collecting, cutting, sorting, and tallying coupons for our troops! (No printed or store coupons, please.)
Operation Christmas Child (Oct. 14 – Nov. 19)
This project is centered around the upcoming holidays. We will be filling shoe boxes with small items to send overseas to children whose families don’t have the means to buy holiday gifts. These gifts can include toiletries, hard candies, or other small toys or gifts. These shoe boxes will light up a child’s holiday time. Even if they don’t celebrate Christmas as the name of the project implies, many of these students don’t get the basics all year long and will appreciate what they get no matter what kind of “label” we give the donation.
The Backpack Buddy Club is a non-profit organization set up to feed economically disadvantaged students over the weekend during the school months. We will be a food collection site for students in our community, and our students will have the opportunity to pack meals for those in need.
