District Partner News: John L. Barry Named Colorado Superintendent of the Year

Ombudsman congratulates John L. Barry of Aurora Public Schools, who was recently named Colorado Superintendent of the year. Under his leadership and through our partnership, Ombudsman Rebound program is helping more students graduate.

From the Aurora Public Schools announcement:

The Colorado Association of School Executives has named John L. Barry the 2011 Colorado Superintendent of the Year.

With the support of the APS Board of Education, School Executives of Aurora nominated Barry for the award, stating that Barry has “changed the focus, philosophy, and physical structure of (the district).”

Superintendent Barry’s efforts were also acknowleged earlier this year, when The Aurora Public Schools Rebound program was recognized by America’s Promise Alliance and ING as a contributing factor in the  selection of Aurora, Colorado as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People.
