Brook Park Congratulates Newly Employed Students (Brook Park, Ohio)
The Brook Park Ombudsman Center would like to congratulate students Andriy Goncharenko and Taryn Hudson for accepting for their very first jobs. The two students have been working diligently to complete their senior portfolios, finding confidence and acquiring valuable skills as they work through the portfolio components.
Goncharenko successfully interviewed and was hired to work at the Lonestar Steakhouse. He describes his employment as “hard work, but it really will be worth the experience on pay day.” He says the fast paced environment makes the time go by quickly and he’s glad to have this experience as his first job. Goncharenko was hired as a dish washer and is presently working 20 hours per week, earning $8.25 an hour.
Taryn Hudson was hired by a Burger King in Berea, Ohio. Prior to the interview she did extensive research online about the corporation and learned a great deal, including information about Burger King’s nonprofit work. Hudson practiced a firm handshake and reviewed the menu items. She also noted that Burger King is one of the only fast food chains that serves veggie burgers. The hiring manager spent nearly an hour and a half interviewing Hudson and offered her a position immediately. Taryn started training in February, earning $8.00 an hour with incremental pay increases as she progresses.
Again, congrats to both students. Ombudsman is very proud to see the successful utilization and application of the senior portfolio components at work.
