General Responsibilities

Provides leadership so that students make meaningful progress toward reaching their full potential as learners. Meets the responsibilities of the position in a quality manner with an open mind toward performance improvement recommendations, so that all resources are utilized efficiently. Diagnoses, prescribes, treats and evaluates students on an individual level and on-going basis. Is accountable for student conduct and upholding center rules and goals. Supports the Site Director in all facets of the program including maintenance, discipline and progress. Is accountable to the Site Director for performing all duties as assigned.

Required Background and Skills:

• Valid Special Education certificate from state of Illinois
• Bachelor’s Degree with teaching experience. State teacher certification preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Ombudsman curriculum and procedures as outlined.
• Strong motivational and communication skills and an adaptability to shifting priorities so that a positive learning environment is assured.
• Ability to prioritize so that deadlines are met.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clerical skills for typing and preparation of reports.
